My Tiguan clunks over speed bumps but only when it's cold
This one has been confusing me for months. I have a 2018 Tiguan and every morning for the first few kilometers, I get this dull clunk from the front left whenever I go over a speed bump or a pothole. But after about 15 minutes of driving, it pretty much goes away or at least becomes way less noticeable. I've taken it to two different garages, both put it on the lift, both said everything looks tight no play in the ball joints, no torn bushings, sway bar links seem fine. But obviously something is wrong because a car shouldn't clunk. I've been reading that VW front strut mounts can dry out and get stiff when cold, then soften up as they warm up, causing exactly this kind of intermittent noise. Someone recommended a place that does adept Volkswagen suspension repair from Suspension Repair Dubai and they apparently check the top mounts under load instead of just wiggling things on a lift. Has anyone here had that cold weather clunk on their MQB Tiguan or Golf and fixed it with new strut bearings or mounts? I don't want to replace the whole strut assembly if it's just a $100 part, but I also hate chasing noises forever. Really appreciate any tips from anyone who's solved this exact puzzle.
